I didn't receive anything either. Must be a problem with auto send. I had to manually send email to me.
So far so good. |

My basic understanding is that this project looks at research in data mining (don't hate me for saying that...
). From my understanding, data mining is a statistical technique that seeks to understand relationships among variables in large datasets. It is actually fairly common for organizations to collect large amounts of data on a large number of variables. Data mining seeks to "mine" these data understand relationships among variables and what these relationships mean and what the implications are for daily life. This project appears to do research in improving these techniques. From my own experience, this is a great candidate for BOINC, as these analyses can take hours, days, or even weeks depending on the size of the dataset, speed of the computer, etc. Hope this helps... |

Then one could say it is a commercial project?

Not sure. If I were to guess, I would say no (but could be wrong). If you look at the Admin's CV, he's a freelance consultant, and he regularly publishes in academic outlets. It looks to me like he started a BOINC project to help him with his research.
