Weird Nightmare...

Had this dream about 4/5 o' clock and haven't been able to go back to sleep...

Anyways, there was a volcano near our house (near as in 25 miles away or so) and it errupted. I was running for it, trying to reach a truck to get away (there's more details but not important here). Anyways, I heard a crackling sound like a tree breaking in half and turned around. I couldn't see the lava, but I felt this sense of impending doom and heard more trees breaking.

Now, sound is very, very rarely something that is memorable in my dreams. It is very odd that in this dream I wouldn't have looked back and seen the lava, but instead only heard it. I don't know if lava would really make that sound or not. I guess it makes sense; if lava flowed through trees they should expands, burst into flames, etc. But, it felt more like I was remembering the sound than imagining it. Jung's collective unconscious perhaps? Past life?

The mountains by where I grew up actually are volcanic, too. You could find pumice out by the sheds. (Pumice is that rock that doesn't weigh anything, because of all the holes (air bubbles) in it.)

As Lava advances it sounds like a camp fire.

Past life expirance could be a possibility. I have a dreaded fear of water and cold. Purahse a death from drowing after breaking through a frozen lake or something.

I still can go swiming if the need calls for it, but I dont wanna.

Yeah, I definitely needed some actual sleep - my cat has been keeping me up all night last week, and when I get up to go to work I feel like I haven't slept.

One of my problems as well: my cat just woke me from the first sleep I've had since last Thursday.

BTW: Your dream, re: volcano, et al, 'sounds like an out-take from the Star Trek movie, where Captain Kirk's son is killed by Klingons, and Spock is reanimated, and then later is brought back to full awareness on his Vulcan home world [hmmm, a play on words: vulcano -Vulcan...???]

But in that clip, as the planet is dying, and breaking up, with volcanic eruptions all around, Kirk is fighting the Klingons, while attempting to save Spock, all of the time while being beserk with grief at the murder of his son, [that his ex-flame had just mentioned to him in this movie].... yada-yada-yada.

But your description of your dream seems eerily like that episode, out-take from that Star Trek movie, as the title to it eludes me... tough to think on little to zero sleep.... [ eh Meady...? ]

Do what I do when you do get to dream, if you do not enjoy the dream, just tell yourself to change the channel to a new dream: it really works, for me anyway... you first must realize, that you ARE dreaming, then it becomes easier to change the channel, then finally, it becomes a reality-based-type game-show of dreams, with you controling the lead character, or placing yourself into the dream, and controling your activities = just like being at the movies... and you don't need money, nor drugs, nor TV... just knowing the fact that you are dreaming, allows you to command your dreams to change, to situations that are more focused and entertaining to yourself to watch, while you lay there in your mind's theater. YMMV, but IMHO it's kinda neat.

Take three dreams, and call me in the morning -doc
