Our international Mars celebration has begun!
Join us for Mars Watch 2003, as we celebrate the closest approach of Mars in more than 50,000 years. This summer people everywhere will be taking a closer look at this fascinating world next door. The Planetary Society's Mars Watch 2003 program includes over 200 Mars related events around the world, a number that continues to grow. Currently, there are Mars Watch 2003 events in the United States, Japan, Austria, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Canada, India, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Portugal. We invite you to take a closer look at Mars by attending a star party, learning something new about Mars at a lecture, attending a Mars Watch 2003 family event, or simply taking a look at the sky on August 27. For a complete list of our events worldwide, please check our website at: http://planetary.org/marswatch2003/events.html Additionally, our website is loaded with educational and observing activities, and information about the five spacecraft going to Mars to join the two already there. Turn your attention to Mars - by visiting us at: http://planetary.org/marswatch2003/ Help us achieve our goal to have half of the world's population looking at, or thinking about, Mars this summer. During this "Close Encounter of a Red Kind," Mars will be a beautiful sight in the sky for anyone who looks up.
