Don't Reactivate After Reinstalling on win XP
If you reinstall Windows XP, you normally have to reactivate it, but there's a way around reactivation. Windows XP maintains the activation information in the file Wpa.dbl, which you'll find in the Windows\System32 folder. After you activate, and any time you add hardware to your system, back up the file to another disk. If you need to reinstall Windows XP for any reason, go through the installation routine, then copy the latest version of Wpa.dbl to the Windows\system32 folder.

You would still have to activate after you replace the file wouldn't you?

My Question then would be, would you be able to download the SP1 pack? I mean if you could do what you say Ranger, and then be able to download all the updates, hmmmmmmm, interesting.

Jupp... the puter just creates that file when activating, so that equals the same... Still able to D/L and update like before... as long as you keep the same components in the re-install

I have the feeling that this is wonderful idea. I was thinking of increasing the memory of my PC. If I had not seen this post then I would have reactivated after reinstalling XP. This would have landed me in trouble. Thus the information provided here has saved me. I saw the video provided by Ranger regarding September 2011. It was really touchy.
