Has anyone heard from Meady? If I remember he was closing down shop for a few weeks to do a bunch of upgrades. Hoping he and the missus are in better health than what they left in.

Yeah,
I miss the Meadies. I hope Meady hasn't had a relapse from trying to upgrade all his comps..... :(

How about now? :D
Firstly, I'm sorry to have been away for so long. (And a big thank you to Jed for the email).
There has been a combination of upgrade disasters, and further ill health that's kept both Mrs M and myself away from the forums.
So far, only one of the MeadeFleet is working, and it being bench-tested as I write this. I hope to be crunching DF again very shortly.
In the meantime, I've a lot of catching-up to do (including ploughing through about a thousand emails), so I'll try to get back in the groove over the weekend.
I will pass on your thoughts to Mrs M (who's currently stuck in bed), and try to figure out how 3DHQ is now a Ninja?
Anyway,
IT'S GOOD TO BE BCAK!

Thanks for the offer, Nano - it's much appreciated.
Interestingly enough, the only part of the upgrade that's gone smoothly is the switch from W98 to W2000!
I have had numerous hardware problems (including two CPU failures, five bad memory chips, and two faulty mobos), and I'm currently exchanging "interesting" conversations with my supplier which may or may not lead to a legal battle, but I hope to have the Fleet back online over the next couple of weeks.
On the plus side, the Flagship has spent the last week crunching Seti (the best way to benchtest a system IMHO), and it's been spitting out between 9 and 11 completed WU's per day! Not bad for a single CPU system.
I can't wait to see how fast it crunches DF - hopefully I'll be switching it over either Sunday or Monday, depending on how things go.

Hi Meady,
glad to see you are up and about again (fingers crossed it'll stay that way!). Send my regards to Mrs M, I hope she gets better soon.
I'm not as knowledgable as Nanobot regarding hardware, but please feel free to ask (or post it) if you think I can help. I seem to have a surplus of graphics cards right now, so if you are short on that front I can mail a couple to you.
My currently unused cards are:
Radeon VE 64MB Dual monitor, TV-Out, DVI-Out.
Daimond Viper II (Savage2000, 32MB).
TNT2 M64 32MB (noisy as hell fan :( ).
S3 Trio 4MB (works on every OS and motherboard I have ever tested - I used to use it to find problems with systems).
