View Full Version : Ninja/3DHQ and the future

Rids
3rd May 2002, 03:10 PM
I realise that you are all anxious/worried/annoyed about the events of the last 72 hours and we haven't been very forthcoming about our plans so here is a brief rundown of what we have in mind.

1. Website
The Ninja front page will soon be a thing of the past, it will be replaced with a professionally designed, full blown website which we intend to fill with useful content. We will be looking for contributions from the members for articles, reviews and hints & tips. These will then be published (complete with photos where available) into the various sections of the site for viewing by the PC community at large. It will be optimised to hit the search engines and will subsequently draw people from all over the net, many of which we would hope to welcome as new members. Michelle is currently working away at putting all this together and with luck and a lot of hard work it should be available for contributions within the next couple of weeks.

2. Hardware
The hardware side of Ninja/3DHQ will remain as a main focus of the site. The forums may be re-jigged slightly but nothing we cover at this time will be discarded. It's hoped that with the extra coverage afforded by the website that the hardware community will find itself very much busier in the not too distant future. We have a number of extremely knowledgeable members in the hardware forums and I hope that you will be able to find time to help us take the site to the next level and beyond. We can go all the way with this, the way forward is in your hands.

3. Software
In addition to the subjects already covered we will be increasing the software side of things to include Graphics, programming and web design.

4. Miscellaneous
There will be a long talked about addition to this section - a humour forum. :)

5. Distributed Computing
The Team Picard forums will remain unchanged, a subject many people appear to be concerned about. The Team Picard forums will continue to be more or less self governing, choosing it's own moderators and setting it's own policy (within BB Guidelines). We have no wish to alienate the members of TP and will continue to offer support for as long as they desire.
We will be adding a support forum for Team 3DHQ, which will operate independantly from Team Picard and see no reason why both teams should not co-exist peacefully. There is no conflict of projects so the rivalry should be minimal.
The way that the DC forums are set out may have to be altered as it will include 3 Picard teams and one 3dhq and it may be better to offer TP a set of sub forums to avoid confusion. This matter can I'm sure be clarified by the TP moderators.

6. The Forums in general
The forum design will be carried on from the website to provide continuity and should be finalised within the next week. It will be quite different to the current scheme but that is something that has to be done, change is inevitable due to the merger. I will be working on a new logo for the site and BB tonight and it will include the Ninja dude before anyone starts shouting. ;)
