Hi,
TFT are not as good for playing games at high resolutions... although they are easy on the eye and have other benefits such as lightweight, less power hungry, take up far less space, etc I would like to have one to replace my 19" CTX PR960 monitor but that screen size is expensive :(

Colour reproduction will be better on a CRT as will resolution and clarity...

IMHO:
TFTs give the sharpest image at their native resolution, but don't look so great at any other. They take less space and generate less heat so are particulary good for confined spaces. However TFTs tend to be slower to respond than CRTs leading to a blurring of fast moving images.
CRTs are much cheeper for a given physical size, respond well, and will cope with any typical screen resolution equally well.
So for gaming, I'd go for a CRT, as the image responds faster and they work well at multiple resolutions.
For stuff like browsing, I'd use a TFT at native resolution for the image clarity, if I could afford a decent one... have some 17 inch ones at work, they are so sharp you'd cut your eyes if you're not careful.

a 19" CRT is an 18" TFT due to all the TFT's are taken from viewable area and not acutual box size ...

i agree with mackerel.
I value the image i want to see,and i value my eyes. And with that in mind i can tell you i dont like TFTs.Maybe CRTs are a little more tiring in the long run ,but the image is better.

Just to be clear in what I said, for general use (office, net etc) I would prefer a TFT as it is sharper, as long as it is used in its native resolution.
But even the best TFTs don't seem to respond as quickly as a CRT, so for games this is probably more important than super sharp clarity. Also CRTs cope well with various resolutions, where a TFT would go a bit blocky at anything other than it's native resolution.
