My friend has an MSI KT7266 DDR board with a Tbird 1.4GHz. There is a high pitched whine coming from the motherboard... it's not the fans/drives/power supply/etc... def the motherboard. and it sounds electrical... not mechanical like a fan or something. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Everything but the Motherboard, and ram have been replaced.

Hi Maverick7480,
Does it have on board modem?
Check the on board sound. Turn it off and see if the noise continues.
Let us know and take care........

no onboard modem, has sound but it's disabled. has a sb live 5.1 card. I can't seem to pinpoint the sound, but it is deffinitely comming from the motherboard. there is that little speaker that does the post beeps on the board, but it doesn't appear to be comming from there. it's similar to the high voltage whine a tv makes.

could be a capacitor or inductor resonating too, if you check them (apply a little pressure to each with something non conductive) you may find the noise stops when on a certain one, either reapply existing wax or melt new on, RS etc stock the right wax. Very common in old TV's
