I Build and sell cpus for a living but lately even with non overclocked systems and best air flow fan placement knowledge that I have when they game hard for 120mins or so they're system locks or freezing with the sound skipping. I know what the problem is heat thats why I watercooled and recommend to any serious computer nut to watercool MY QUESTION is with all the advertized cpu's that the major people sell, could they withstand the same punishment, IF my system locked with a Aircooled cpu and mid tower case with no air flow how can the major seller's keep selling cpus claiming it can do it all. I Know why, but I wanna hear your input.

If you have a non overclocked, air cooled system that isnt stable enough to play a video game, something is definately not right :)

I have some Win2k machines at work, Athlon 1200s, run real hot because i bought cheap heatsinks, like 55-60c full load. Once in a while we get a lan game going, maxxing out our Matrox and Diamon Stealth video cards. No crashing.

Water cooling is certainly NOT a requirement for gaming these days :)

i agree with player,

Althou some of the systems we have at school 1gig celerons winxp or 2k seem to lock up quite often b/c of heat or major dust..but then again we buy them and install what we need. The also have cheap cooler master HSF and usally some sort of Aopen vid card. The video editing machines we have with All in wonder Radeon card don't freeze up as often..
