I've decided to reinstall all my software on my system. I decided to to install Win98 SE dual booted with WinXP Corporate. I've just installed Win98 but it takes ages to boot up and quite often doesn't complete shutting down. I hadn't installed anything before this was happening. It wasn't happening when i just had WinXP installed. I installed the via 4in1 4.38 but it didn't do any good. My system specs are below.
Thanks!

One possible reason for Win9x to be slow booting is if you have the TCP/IP network settings on the network card set to get config info automatically, when you don't have anything to give out such info. If this is the cause, the workaround is to manually set a fixed IP address.

Hi Ummugumma,
Question: Did you clean install Win9X, then XP, or did you have XP on the system, then try to install Win9X?
Take care........

Try downloading and installing the Windows98se shutdown suppliment. (http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/downloads/contents/wurecommended/s_wufeatured/win98se/)
If you change this registy key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Shutdown\ FastReboot to 0 (zero not oh)
You will disable fast reboots and shutdowns and help resolve some of the problems. There is probably some series of menus to drill through to do this but I don't remeber them right now.
