Ok i've just ordered a ATI Radeon 8500 retail,
But now i've just read on tech nation that this card is incompatable with a athlon xp chip, is this true!
Also is this card like a geforce 3 like with all the extra's in 3dmark 2001 :xdunce:

I am currently running an XP cpu and Radeon 8500 retail and my system ROX. Never had any issues at all, I choose Radeon over Nvidia for my main machine. Dont worry everything will be great. And yes the 8500 will perform the nature test in 2001 3D mark.

I just got my Radeon 8500 retail version last week and I also have an Athlon XP processor (1600) on my mobo. I love this card. Since I dont have a sig up here are my specs as I remember them:
Athlon XP 1600
ECS K7S5A SiSŪ 735 Mobo
512MB Crucial SDRAM
Radeon 8500 retail standard clock
ENERMAX EG365P-VE(FC)
2001 3D Mark 1024 X 768 X 32b 7448
I'm sure if I used Powerstrip and with proper cooling I could jack that up higher.
What I am most impressed by is the quality of the image that this puts out. The only card that I've seen that does better is the Matrox G 400 series of cards, but try gamming on one of them ...bleah.
Get the latest drivers and you will be fine.

Don't know. I haven't compaired the two. (GF4 and G400)
We use the G450's here at work for the dual monitor/multiple desktop support for our MDSC service department (think On-Star for locomotives). Image is crisp and clean with truer colors than I've seen in the GF2 and most of the GF3's. Of course 3-D performance has taken the back burner for 2-D performance with our application.
