Have the same board minus the raid. Mine always reboots in first 30 minutes - guarenteed. After it loads up again it's fine. never got to the bottom of it and to honest have not used it for anything other than seti cos i dont trust it :( Waiting for a new vid card, then i will try again and load all drivers etc.

Hi Bud,
Long time no hear......Where ya been hiding?
Get your stuff together and start with the questions. I need a job...
Actually ended up with the Abit K7A and a XP1800 that I am running at XP2200 for now.
Things have been interesting round here since ya left. Ya picked a good time to come back, specially when I am SETIing my butt off. My 1776 WU's makes your piddlie 1058 WU's look VERY small. Better get a VERY BIG CPU and catch me, if ya can.
Really great to hear from ya and hang in there.
This is my one :xspam: for the day.

Hi BURNER-X,
You can run FAT32 on Win9X, Win2K, and XP HE and Pro also.
I am not telling you what to do, but you can upgrade from the ME you have, to Win2K or XP, and keep your settings and personal data.
I personally think the Win2K or XP is a much more stable and powerful OS than the Win9X platform.
Back to you.......

will it nerf my harddrive space? I heard something about only being able to see 30something gigs of your harddrive when you use fat32 with Xp. I'll chage to ntfs sometime soon **** I'll prob have no choice next few new os's:confused:
do you think it might be the winme causing the reboots someone on another board told me it might be the PSU what do you think?

Burner-x,
Are you running any kind of overclock on that system?
I wouldn't think the newer Enermax PSU is the issue. Sometimes the older Enermax models caused trouble (the EG351 330watt, and the EG451 431 watt), but the newer models (EG365 350 watt and EG465 431 watt) don't seem to have the problems with their improved amperage ratings. But it may be worth a PSU swap to eliminate this variable for sure.
Many times random reboot is just a sign of general system instability which can be caused by a number of items. Before spending $$$ on another PSU you may want to try your BIOS settings.
It could be aggressive memory and CPU command settings. You could try turning these down a bit if you've cranked em up. Typical culprits here are the CPU Command Decode (set to Fast not Ultra), and the DRAM Command (set to 2T not 1T).
You could also try notching the voltage up on your DDR a little. This seems to stabilize many users with reboot issues.
Also, check your temps and make sure those are in control.

Something i was just reading on some other sites, is that most of the boards don't ship with the most recent bios. So doing a bios update could fix the problem.

changing Bios would scare me i think as i have never done one before, but we all to learn sometime:)
Nice to see you get your first post in, hopefully the first of many. Visited your fair city last year, best holiday i have ever had, first time abroad...problem is i keep wanting to go back:D

Many people are having problems with KR7A boards re booting but most can be cured by conecting the CPU cooler fan to the Power supply and not the mother board. Spikes from the fan cause the M/c to re boot.

I have already got my fan powered from the molex connectors, i was already warned that the fan i have might draw to many volts? cant remember the exact explanation but was warned to use the molex rather than m/b.

Hi All,
It is not the voltage that causes a problem, it is the amps that are pulled off the mobo that causes problems.
Running off of the molex connectors takes a lot of strain off the mobo and frees it up for CPU usage.
Take care..........

Forgive me if I repeated anything anyone else already suggested, but it's 3:30AM here and I was too tired to read thru all the posts... just saw the subject and thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.
Maybe it's just that I work tech support for college students and they don't take care of their machines or bother updating their antivirus software, but I've seen this problem several times. Trojan viruses have been circulating more abundantly in the past few weeks. Who ever put the trojan on their computer was restarting or shutting down the computer.... what a way to mess with someone... I also recently had that problem with my own machine and it turns out that the fan on my GeForce3 Ti200 had died and the card was overheating in games.
