This is my question. When I dont have any screen saver running my monitor shutts down after certain amount of time that I set it for, but soon as I have any screen saver running the monitor never shuts down. What can be wrong here?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe,

Sounds like the power is shutting off the monitor and H/D's.
Go to Control Panel/Power Options and turn them off, if you don't want your screen to blank.

Take care....

Hi Joe,

I guess I miss your point.
Why would you want it to turn off when running screen savers?
Why run screen savers, then want the monitor to turn off AND run screen savers?

Take care.......

I want the monitor to go in to standy mode, and then when i touch the mouse I want my desktop to come back, you know when you dont touch the comp for a long period of time the screen saver comes on and then after like 20min the monitor goes in to like a standy mode. You know when you right click on desktop>properties>screensaver>Power>Settins for Home/Office Desk power scheme:Turn off monitor.

Please advice.

Thanks,

Hi,

I still don't have a clue as to what you want.

"I want the monitor to go in to standy mode, and then when i touch the mouse I want my desktop to come back,"
(1) If the Power Setting for the monitor is not turned off, then the monitor will go into standby after, you say 20 minutes. When you move the mouse, or hit the keyboard, the monitor resumes.

"you know when you dont touch the comp for a long period of time the screen saver comes on and then after like 20min the monitor goes in to like a standy mode."
(2) If you don't want the screen saver to start, then turn it off. You don't need both screen saver and standby. Let the monitor go into standby mode, then when you hit a key or move the mouse, then the monitor starts again.

Again, why do you feel that you need both screen saver and standby?

Take care.........

Yes, lets says the screen saver turns on after 3mins of no activities the screen saver comes on and after like 10mins of screen saver I would like the monitor to go in to stand by mode to save energy, I have set to go in to like 10mins after screen saver but it never does.

Maybe it is designed to not both work at the same time.

I am not able to help you, so I am turning this over to someone else.

I'd just set the monitor to shut off afer 10min and not use a screensaver at all.
