Using Powertoys, I was turning off some annoying features like autoplay in XP. While I was at it I also adjusted a few other settings. One of them changed my icons into what looks like 16 colours. Ugly. But I can't find the setting to get them to look pretty again. In any other version of windows I'd used the "show icons using all possible colours" option, but I can't find one in XP :(
And ideas?

For now try Icon repair in Powertoys, I will try to find it and let you know.

Further info:
I run the desktop in 16-bit colour, and it used to work fine until I fiddled with Powertoys. Now icons are in what looks like 16 colours (4-bit). The icons still look good if I switch to 32-bit colour, but I want to leave things in 16-bit as Ragnarok (http://enweb.ragnarokonline.com/) only works in 16-bit and I don't want to continually swap.
I tried rebuilding icons, but that didn't help. There's nothing I can see in display properties (including advance settings), powertoys/tweakui, or the advanced performance settings in My Computer. Am totally lost on this one...

Try to uninstall it and reboot and then reinstall.
