(Just a few stats for you. I think I just went ahead and made your day...) ;)
Number of physicians in the US: 700,000
Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year: 120,000 (AMA)
Accidental deaths per physician: 0.171 (U.S. Dept. of Health Human Services)
Number of gun owners in the US: 80,000,000
Number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups): 1,500
Accidental deaths per gun owner: 0.0000188
Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
"FACT: Not everyone has a gun, but everyone has at least one Doctor." Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand.
(As a Public Health Measure, I have withheld the statistic on Lawyers for fear that the shock could cause people to seek medical aid.)

28,874 total gun related deaths (obtained from CDC) -1,500 accidental deaths = 27,374. Once again divided by the number of gun owners gets you It is still more dangerous to have doctors than hand guns. Why don't we have safety locks for docs?
Of course, that is accidental deaths of doctors compared to intentional deaths from guns. Somewhat skewed in favor of the doctors. Look at intentional deaths cause by doctors. Keep in mind that this number is going to be inaccurate as the not all doctors perform procedures that has the sole purpose of causing death.
Number of intentional deaths caused by doctors 1,370,000 (est*).
Number of doctors 700,000
Number of intentional deaths per doctor 1.9571!
Number of intentional gun deaths per owner 0.000342175
Thats over 5719 times a doctor is more likely to kill someone than a gun owner. I think gun owners should be in every operating room. I would prefer to have mine armed, just in case.
* Doesnt take into account illegal procedures.
