View Full Version : Preliminary water chiller results...

Ok guys, so I have finally completed my chiller.There are some good news and bad news...so full load temp at 1000/1.75V is 7°C this is not good at all.Good is that I was not able to run this cpu at 1000MHz at only 1,75V with my previous water-cooling setup.However cooling unit need to be tuned properly, what I haven`t done yet.
Cooling capacity is following: at -25°C 180W, at -15°c 280W and finally at -5°C 400W.So I must find optimum btw temp and power.Maybe I will get lower temps at -15°C and 280W than on -25°C and 180W. Well another problem is maybe my wb.It is homemade aluminium block,so I am thinking about buing some maze2 block...
And one more prob:my pump is running so slooow when submerged in -25°C bath that I am started to thinking that this is not good...
Really cool is that even this not so good temp alowed me to run my cpu stable at lower voltages which was not possible with plain watercooling.
I will try some higher overclock of course and I will tune my unit cause I am sure that it has some reserves.....

well...it looks I have condensation problem...my water block is maze-style and on the inlet side I`ve got condensation.Block is insulated with 5mm neoprene,I will add one more layer....

another thing->difference btw idle and load is 8°C which I think is too much.Temperature is droping immediately after going from full load to idle...so where is my problem? Cooling capacity is not sufficient?,pump is too weak? or wb is bad?
what you think guys?
temperature of coolant is not rising significantly when on full load comparing to idle.

Youve spottted your problem.....if you have condensation on just one side of the waterblock.the water should be moving fast enough so that it exits the block before it gets time to warm up.
How powerfull is the pump?I find a 800/1000 litre per hour is optimum....to fast you have noise and little benefit....and some more heat in the water.....too slow and the water heats too much when cpu is under load.A better/copper block will prolly get temps down a few degrees.....but a slow water supply will give you a "cieling" limit on the amount of wattage you can thruoghput before it overloads....and water/cpu temp difference shoots up.
If the temp of the water isnt rising then you are on the right track.....I would think you should be able to get to within 15 degrees of waterblock temp at the speed you are at now (water + 15degrees) and 25 when overclocked and overvolted (which would leave you around zero degrees with water at -25)
