got my hands on this athlon, and its green :)
my problem is my unlock failed so i tried it again.
but I cut to deep in the space between the bridges and now the layer under the bridges isn't protected anymore by that green stuff.
my question is :
could this harm the proc if i tried to unlock it again ?
if the bridges are connected with that layer, what will happen ?
the proc still works fine, only at 12x where this must be 12.5.

I wouldn't try to unlock it again. That's just me I just toasted a 1800+ and it might be because of my unlocking it. I really didn't see a difference but if the mhz matter to you try using a crayon to fill the gaps. That's what I used but my CPU is also now dead. Good luck.

it all circumstances most people have reccomended against allowing the bridges to connect with the underlying material... in this case i would use a technique such as the one they used in the Toms Hardware Guide Video, filling in your gap with superglue first so as to be sure you arent connecting the bridges to wiring for the pins themselves

its the space between the 5 bridges, not the space where you use the silver.
the lasercuts are closed, that is not the problem.

Use clear nail polish to fill in the pits, if you don't use something non-conductive(The green layer from the CPU is not enough) you will short out the bridges, and the unlocking won't work. After the pits r filled use conductive grease or Rear Window Defogger Repair(I used this) to connect the dots go row by row one at a time. Filling in the pits is the most important part.

what do you mean? how did you "cut" something?

the silver was connecting 2 bridges, so I tried to clear that area with a knife (stupid, i know) and now the copper plate is in clear view.
that green layer is verry thin, so...

you should definatly do your best to repair the damage! with superglue or the like.. its definatly a bad thing going on there!

I hope I can fix it :)
this is the highest i can get it on 2.14 vcore.

not stable enough to do any benchmark but still...

thats a mighty fine score! what type of cooling are you using?
i wouldnt expect you to get much more than that out of it!
do you think its your ram that is crashing? hence the need for a higher fsb?
what are you temps?

I have had the same problem. Two attempts failed and the cleaning off of the conductive paint left traces of copper showing between the bridges. For me enough was enough and I stooped before my CPU was fubared.
TBH with my mobo (KR7A Raid)I am sure I am maxing out the CPUs capabilities with the limitations of air cooling and no volt mods without bothering with multiplyers, and at the levels I reach I can have all RAM settings at their most aggresive. Of course a lower multiplyer and higher FSB would likely yeild better overall benchies, but I am more than happy to get my XP1700 running at XP2000 levels. :)

the cooling is an alpha pal 8045 + PAPST NGM.
7 (yes seven) casefans :)
ram is not the problem, runs stable at 174 mhz fsb cas 2.
did a +5 v mod on my enermax.
higher doesn't work at all.
highest is 1865 mhz, on this mhz I can run 3 D mark.

i understand now you want 170x11 or something near it, its amazing that you are running that speed without water cooling... maybe you have a exceptional processor, try h2o maybe you can break 2.0ghz

Gamer:
Nice overclock for sure. Congrats!
I agree with Berks on this one, and you should just do your best to gently clean the bridges off and leave it. Although it is very intriguing as to what this CPU of yours can do unlocked, it would also be a real bummer if it should become FUBAR.
Tough choice really...
