Does anyone know, or have links to information on stepping codes for 1GHz PIII's which overclock well and can be used in duel rigs?
TIA

Hello m8
I think CCO is the best stepping.
Have a look on www.overclockers.com
check out the cpu database.
You should find what you needin there.
Don't think they are the best chips to oc
in a dual setup.

I've as you can see dual pIII's overclocked pretty darned high. In my experience the PIII 700 with the 100mhz FSB overclocked the best out of all of them reguardless of their stepping. even the slot ones would hit a gig pretty comfortably. The Abit VP6 or the Iwill DVD266 were the best boards to dually them with although I've never personally worked with the Iwill but I do own the Abit so I can personally attest to it's quality when coupled with good ol' Crucial Ram. Good luck

Hi Thenarsky
Sorry to say, but both those mobo's have prob's running
with oced chip's for any length of time.
The Caps on the ABIT let it down badly and the chipset's
are not very good performance wise.
They both oc higher than say a BX chipset board,
but the BX is still hard to beat perfomance wise.
I did a lot of testing with the via and intel chipsets
and the bx will run as fast as the via @100fsb and the via
@133fsb.
So to get the same perfomance you have to run the via chipsets
higher.

Hey what can I say? Although however my ABIT has been up and running quite stably with no problems what-so-ever for a good 4 months. I guess results vary based on a case by case basis :)

Hi Thenarsky
I hope it remains that way,At least you will know where to look should it play up:D
In most cases they run 24/7 or have been running for a long time.
With Abit it is common for a lot of the mobo's to suffer this
fault, shame of it is Abit know about it, and have done nothing
to put it right. They just continue to use cheap parts in their
product's, I don't buy Abit any more, not untill they get it right.
They are one of the best ocing boards, but at a price.
