Why does Epox 8kha+ fail to boot and gives the error code 41? The weird thing is, that the computer sometimes boots up normally and works like a charm until the next reboot. The computer is made of:
Epox 8kha+,
Apacer 256MB,
Duron 1GHz,
ATI Xpert 2000 pro,
...And the power supply is 250W, which I think is causing the problem. All the parts are new (bought today). Anyone had similar problems or can help me?

Try it with the power supply from the other computer you have in your signature. Other than that, try reseating things including the pci cards, power connectors, make sure proccy is latched down correctly and the heatsink mounted squarly and not backwards. Also check that their are no screws without insulator washers that may cause a short.

Does it boot right up after you restart from the error screen? If so... it's more software / configuration releated problem than all that stuff above.

I'm not at home right now so unfortunately I'm unable to test with another PSU.

Here's the deal: When I turn on the power it usually doesn't boot but halts with error code 41. I have to reset the computer several times and sooner or later it usually boots. After that when the computer boots up it works OK until the next time it gets restarted, so the problem probably lies somewhere between the motherboard and power supply.

I've also tested it with only PSU, mobo, memory & gfx card installed but with no luck. Still gave me the dreaded error code 41.

Woohoo..I Solved the problem finally last saturday. After testing all the components in the computer (took them to a computer store where they didn't even charge for the testing :)) I came to the conclusion that the motherboard was broken. Bought a new 8kha+ and it worked like a charm :)

Did you RMA it or just buy a new one.

I didn't have the time to wait for a new board through RMA, because I built the computer for my brother who lives pretty far away from me, so I made him pay for a new one :). He get's his money back though, because he returned the broken board to where he purchased it.
