Yes, I'm confused again.
Now I have my new IBM HD partitioned and working dandy as a Slave to the older IBM on IDE 1, with my CD and Zip on IDE 2, I've been trying to get one or both of the drives over to IDEs 3 and 4, but without setting them up as a RAID array. (I'd like to take advantage of the speed increaseof IDEs 3 and 4).
I've updated the BIOS and 4-in-1, and made sure the SoftMenu settings and Highpoint BIOS are ok (at least, I think.....) and I've the right cables.......
When it comes to boot, I get a Bluescreen saying that the drive isn't bootable, and I've no idea why....
1) Can I just set up one or two drives on IDE 3 or 4 without setting up a RAID array?
2) How can I get the BIOS to recognise any drive on IDE 3 or 4?
3) Is there some sort of conflict issue I'm not aware of...IBM drives maybe?
4) Will I have any hair/social life remaining if I eventually get a solution?

Hi Mattsky.

If you wish to boot from a disk on the Primary or Secondary IDE channel of Highpoint controller you must first set the boot device as "ATA100RAID" in the Advanced BIOS Features Setup menu of the KT7-RAID BIOS.Check if ATA100Raid IDE Controller on Integrated Peripherals is enabled too. Then, when the machine boots and the Highpoint BIOS screen is shown, press Ctrl-H to enter the Highpoint BIOS menu and choose which disk to boot from the BIOS setting menu.
