With most aggressive timings (cas 2 , 1T) on my Epox it craps out @ 180FSB
I can get it stable @ 177, but I thought it would go higher?

I would have to agree that you have pretty good results there. Especially with that 1T Command setting. The Command setting really effects stability. Leaving everything else aggressive, but changing the Command rate to 2t, how high can you get?

Hmmm. I would have thought it would go higher at 2t also. Have you tried Crucial in that same machine?
I've always been a big fan of Corsair, but starting with the new DDR stuff, it seems to be more hit-or-miss. I had trouble running it at higher FSB speeds in my KG7 and my A7V266E. The Crucial, although rated lower, performed better. Others have found the same troubles, while some have had great performance. I haven't been able to find a commmon denominator on rigs that do well or poorly. I do think the majority of users do well with it, but a fair amount do not. It seems the RAM itself is "spotty".

Mike...the corsair that gave you trouble in the kg/asus rig's,.....have you tried in the kr7?I'm going to order a kr7 myself (as I am assuming that this ram performs so badly just cos of an incompatability prob with kg).....unless you tell me that your corsair didn't perform well in the KR either.(in which case I will replace the ram instead)

jozzer,
Unfortunately I RMA'd the Corsair before I got my KR7A. So I do not have any firsthand experience with that combination. But it seems the success rate of the KR7A with Corsair memory is very high. I do not see enough posts re: Corsair incompatability with the KR7A to see any "trend' like there was with the KG7.
If you are planning a mobo swap to the KR7A your Corsair should do fine. The question really is which mobo you want to use. The KR7A is newer and faster. The KG7 is slower but more stable with fewer compability issues. If you are looking to overclock as a primary consideration, I suggest the mobo swap. Just be aware there are some KR7A users with Audigy issues and some PCI bus issues that effect RAID burst speed. But other than that the mobo is fantastic.
Looking at the H20 set up you have, I say get the KR7A:D

Hmm....my concern is that i will discover that the corsair is duff.......but then I spose I too can rma it if need be.
The audidgy isn't a prob (i will get a pro hard disk recording card next spend up) and raid isn't particularly an isue for me either (needing all the gigabytes I can lay my hands on for muzak...couldn't bear to see a 60gig drive "shadowing")
Well.....spose I talked myself into it:p I'll get ordering!
Thanks DuDe:D
P.S.....whats the Idea of depriveing your kid's senses by useing an old tnt gfx card? (how old are the kids?Wish U were MY DaD:eek: )

I suppose I've been a little lazy keeping their rig up to par. What can I say:o .
In all honesty, at 5 years old (they are boy/girl twins), they have no need for the system they have. All they run is a few kid's games. I'm sure it will obsolete long before they are old enough to challenge it with anything they'll want to do. That's kind of a shame. But they would not have a system like that had I not won an XP 1800+ and the Gigabyte GA-7DX in the AMD Extreme Performance Giveaway. If that did not happen, their 1.333 TBird would be in my KG7 and they would be on the more modest KA7 Slot A system which is now in SETI duty. In any case, my wife thinks I'm nuts, and she is well aware of the fact that their rig also pulls more than occasional SETI duty for me too.
Anwhoo, good luck with the mobo purchase. I think you will be pleased. Keep us informed on your progress with it.:)

Thnkx for all the replies
unfortunatly shops in Belgium don't sell Crucial & ordering online will result in a higher price then the Corsair ;)
I really just want to put my cpu multiplier @ 10x and keep upping the FSB
I'm now @ 177 stable. But I want more :)
this XP1600+ does now 1806Mhz @ 2.13v

I'm also pretty glad I didn't screw up my mobo by voltmodding it :)

Yeah those pins are tiny it was hell the first time I did it on my KK266-R, thats whats good about the XP333 with the +10% you can get up to 2.0v but my XP does not like anything over 1.9 and even with 2.0 she will not go any higher.
