A buddy of mine has a HP 8660C Desktop and has installed the NVIDIA TNT2 Video card. Whenever he boots up his computer, the screen stays blank. (Black). With the video removed everything boots up fine. He's used both video monitor ports and neither works with the video card installed. It's a PCI card. I told him to try another PCI slot. Anyone have any ideas?

good advice from nitan,if you find out your card is ok you might have to shut down the onboard video first before the installation of the new one, sometimes theres a setting in bios that you may have to play with, another thing is that you may have to load in the drivers before the card, been awhile since I played with an HP

Tim,
Pistol is right, you have to disable the onboard video, usally is a jumper on the mobo, I have a HP 6470Z and that's what i had to do to mine. There will be a white box (in white ink) on the mobo saying "enable" and "disable" all you have to do is move the jumper. The box should be located in the lower right hand corner/region. Hope my information helps.

hmmm Jester.....are you overclocking that card any? overclocking the video card memory too hight usually causes such things as that. Im not sure if that is your problem or not....being you said its around text....try declocking the memory a bit...if its overclocked....and try it.
