I recently built up a 1500 AthlonXP on a KG7-RAID, overclocked it soon after to 1500mhz using 150FSB x 10. Clock dividers set to 4-4-1.
The Shiny new Maxtor fireball 40gb then started to make the occasional loud click, then ended up making a lot of loud clicks like the stepper was confused! Its now being replaced due to having more bad sectors than good! Everythings running cool, twin 80mm side fans, processor at 38 deg C. HD nice and cool, could the OC have caused this? I'm a dumb newbie! and dont fancy screwing a new drive up!

Athlon XP 1500 1333mhz @ 1500mhz
512mb PC2100 DDR CL2
ABIT KG7-RAID
Maxtor Fireball +AS 40GB
Win 98SE

Its possible.....however there are a surprising number of harddisks that go belly up during the first few weeks of useage.....maybe you accelerated the death, but I suspect it was a duff drive in the first place

Think i'll just unlock the chip when i get a drive back! Probably safer if it goes right!
