Got a mate of mine who's hard drive made a horrible noise then shortly after died. He's a tad upset over this as he had loads of photos of his children on it and he's never got round to doing a back-up (always the way)
Is there a utility for recovering this data?
Lolboy.

hi lolboy,
not aware of any util though others may be able to help with that one, there are lots and lots of companies out there that will perform the task however, they're not cheap so it boils down too how badly does he want the data back as for a price it is possible.

Hi Lolboy
Have you had a look at spinrite on www.grc.com. it might be what you want. I did a quick search on google and found a company that cgarges £300-£600 but they offer a free evaluation so you can get them to look at it and give you an idea of what can be recovered without paying any cash.
