K folks need opinions and suggestions...I recently had to send in both of my 75gxp 20.5gig hard drives due to them going belly up and dying. I sent them in as per the RMA rules and regulation per IBM. After a few weeks I received 2 brand new shiny drives...I was suprised to see that instead of the 75gxp models I received the 60gxp model. Figuring that I probably will be okay with the newer model of IBM drive...I set up my raid array and went about the task of formating and installing my system back up to running speed...After a few days and finally getting my box back up to my day to day standards...I figured I would load up Sandra and hd Tach and do a few benchies on the drives just for curiousity sakes...Imagine my surprise when the drives where noticeable slower in both benches....The old drives in sandra used to average around 44000 to 48000 on a consistant basis...Now they dont even get much over 35000....HD tach is noticeably lower as well..My question is did I take a royal shafting over this transaction or should I just swallow my tongue and be happy to have 2 drives that may last longer than 1 year?....btw...this is the 2nd RMA replacement on both drives....
