What is the supposed difference between KT266A and KT333 besides the DDR333 support?

Cause if that is it they r ripping us off a 1/5 divisor is all that is needed not a Supposed "New Chipset"

Any insight is welcome.

In a nutshell:

The KT333 chipset will be exactly the same as the KT266A w/ the addition of DDR333 support and ATA-133 (well actually ATA-133 is now available on the "newer" KT266A mobos). The KT333A chipset, due out soon after the KT333, will not only support DDR333, but V-link 512, AGP 8x, and USB 2.0.

The memory subsystem will have 3 options. Assuming the bus is set to run at 133mhz for current XP processors, the choices will be to run 33mhz under the FSB (PC1600), run at the FSB speed (PC2100), or run FSB plus 33mhz (PC2700).

We will likely see a 1/5 divisor if the rumors about the Thoroughbred are true, and it runs at 166mhz double-pumped. If this is true, the FSB will run at 166mhz, and memory choices will likely be to run it at synchronously (PC2700), less 33mhz (PC2100), or less 66mhz (PC1600). Whether or not we'll be able to use the 1/5 PCI divisor when setting the FSB to only 133 remains to be determined.

I beleive the KT333 is suppose to be "officially" announced around Feb 20. Right now there are a few mobo makers who have already announced new mobos that will feature the KT333 chipset.

The KT333A is rumored to be out by the end of spring.

Well....theres alot of pressure i guess....with other 333 boards hitting the market. The lack of a decent divider is the lacking factor of the kt266a (is it still 1/4?)

My opinion is that Via is forcing the manufacturers to not including a 1/5 divider so that they can release a new chipset to force us to buy a new mobo. I think that is why Iwill went with the ALi Chipset instead of the KT266A.

Oh and Jozzer is that all you can get out of the 1600+:D
