Ferret

Actually there are two boards that could be considered king, the Abit KR7A(Via KT266A Chipset) and the Iwill XP333(ALi Magik Chipset) each one has their pros and cons. I prefer the Iwill. As for the Duron it has the new Morgan core which is basically an XP core with the smaller cache.

Hi Ferret,

Welcome back..long time no type.

You have to watch that Northern Yankee guy.........Saying that there are only two "king" boards.

Most of the mobo's that are made for the XP are very good boards. As NY says, there are pro and con agruments to every one.

Don't rule out the MSI, Gigabyte, Abit, and IWill. There are several lesser known mobo's out there that are execellent also.

Everybody has a personal preference.....I prefer the MSI brands........I know people that would not be caught dead with a MSI. Same for the other brands. All are good in respect to certain features and are lacking in others.

Welcome back, again.....

Ni NY,
Their main complaint seemed to be that MSI went to AMI BIOS.
You can change the AMI to AWARD BIOS is you so want.
I have not done it yet, but will on the next BIOS update.
Will keep all posted, if I do.

Sorry Ferret,
We got off your thread a little, but it is all kinda tied in to your original question, I think? :xtyping:

Hi NY,

I found it on the MSI website for BIOS instructions.

You are supposed to be able to go from AMI to AWARD, and AWARD to AMI.
I have no idea why you would want to go from AWARD to AMI, but there must be someone who would, or they would not have the option.

When I do it, will post instructions info for all. :xbthumb:

Kewl that is a mojor sticking point for that board I was messing with one today and I would just hit enter in a field in the BIOS and I would not get the drop box that I am acustomed to with the Award. Keep us updated.

Thanks again lads

Nothing beats the Swiftech MC462 and MCX462 with an 80mm 68CFM Delta fan on it. They both have copper bases, and mount directly to your MoBo's 4 hole mounts. The MCX is the latest revision and preforms a few degrees better than the MC462, but is much more pricy...and Swiftech stuff is pricy enough! You get what you pay for though.
