Glad you approve Ranger .....I think the sound is the main attaction, plus the wheelies :), not as much power as the R1, but the low down torque should make it as quick on the road.

I gotta ask.. why'd you go with that over the gsxr1000 or the new R1? I realize those are inlines, but is the v-twin really that preferable to ya?

well, I hate to say money, would love the new R1 but not got the cash.

I think for a good reliable bike, which is also fun, the TLR will suit fine.....plus it's got a great rep for being a challenge to ride (gotta treat them with repsect :))

Exactly, if girls want to ride with us.. then they should get their own! Although that is just the solo cowl on there... you can buy the little seat cushion instead :D

hiya m8, being a road monster lover you'll probably laugh at this but the 450 only churns out 55bhp@900rpm & 36lb/ft torque at 7000rpm but they are v.light, honda have managed to stuff all the weight at the bottom so the bike flicks around as if it were a 125 2 stroke. Its actually down on power compared to the yz426 mx'er and down on the 250 2 strokes too and yet everyone whos been on one is putting in quicker lap times almost instantly which is odd as normally it takes an age to dial a bike into your style. Honda really have started a new generation in 4 stroke mx'ers with this bike!!!!

For mx too much power causes issues (dig too many holes :D)and drops your lap times considerably, for years and years even the 125cc 2 strokes have slaughtered the lap times of the 500 2 strokes and 4 strokes monsters, with the 250's being the premeier / quickest class with power / weight balanced about as good as you'll get it for the dirt. I've raced 2 strokes since i was knee high and have always been anti 4 stroke for MX, the last bike i had was a Husaberg 600 4 stroke big horrible thing it was, lots of power but not very useable on the track and a bitch to hot start so no good for racing if you had a get off. But these crf450's are well ... just amaZing! you'd love it m8, only geared (standard) for about 95mph they get there real quick (& that seems so much quicker than 95 should when off road!) , they fly like a 125 ( the gyros amazing in the air because of the torque), corner like they're on rails .... yup i love 4 stroke mx'ers now .. never ever thought i'd say it :) must be getting old ;)

Nice bike Fluke.

The TL does indeed demand respect, it is not the mannerly delivery of the VTR. Should put a grin on yer bonce though very time you sling it out of corner on the back wheel with your own howling laughter only drowned out by the induction growl.

Due to wierd licensing laws in Ireland, I am also on the Vee twin (http://www.ancientcraft.net/bike+venom+pan1.jpg) but a slight bit less in the CCs. Still, EBC brakes and a K&N filter and some other minor tweaks help liberate some of the trapped horses.

Will do till I get a CBR in a year's time.

Nice bike LD.....I haven't really given the TL any abuse yet a it's been to wet to get the power down (she's in for new fork seals at the moment). I don't think it wheelies off the throttle in second yet, will need a few mods to untame it.

The easiest I believe is to simply bridges a wire with a resistor, this fools the EFI into thinking the bike is always in sixth and gives all the power back at low RPMs in low gears (suzuki did this to stop people from having fun :))

Hi there,
Glad you like the TL. My last bike was a 916 and before that all 17 others were Jap 4. The 916 was a great bike and had some low down grunt. however the best thing about the duke was the noise. Have you got some decent pipes on it ?

Hiya

Just junked the standard ones with a set of Art alloy end cans....it sounds like world war 3 breaking out now :). (though they are much shorter than the standard ones, so expose to much plastic on it's rear....gonna have to get a undertray now.)

Still not sure about the TL as a good bike, guess I'm not used to V-Twins.....they don't feel fast like a inline 4, but I did look down at the speedo on a short straight the other day and she was indicating 170

Got a lot of mods to do in the next couple of weeks....
