View Full Version : A7V133 won't post!

I bought a A7V133 and a 1.4 TBird. When I first put everything together it entered the bios just fine. I updated the bios to 1007 and that went fine as well. The computer kept hanging just before entering the XP startup. I thought that maybe the store had given me a 200 bus chip instead of 266 so I decided to change the multiplier to 14x/100 instead of 10.5/133. I now cannot even get to the bios. The pc will not post at all. I cleared the cmos, I even removed the battery for a few minutes. I was going to try to manually configure the motherboard through the jumpers next. Anyone have any ideas?

best thing todo is take out the plug, and leave it until the light on the mobo goes off. Then clear the CMOS and try again. If it dont work, check the heatsink is applied correctly and unlock your Tbird (if it isnt already). Leave it as jumperless - its far easier, and go thru all the jumpers on the board again as a double check.

definatly try the mobo jumpers first. they are a surefire way to override bad bios settings.. strange though that 14x100 didnt work, perhaps if you get it reset and ready try 9x100 and see what happens this time.
that particular board is difficult to reset, ive had to remove and power up and down several times to get a new post after overclocking it too far
what i think mostlikely happened was you hit 14x133 obviously that wouldnt post! be patient with the mobo as it will be stubborn.
and the problem with hanging on winxp, the mobo is very particular with win2k/xp from what ive seen and took great pains to install.
i never did quite manage to finish the instal, i referred it to my amd expert friend.

When I upgraded my BIOS revison by first time my flash rom was cleared and not updated.
I had no post, nothing in my monitor, no activities. My computer was dead.
Try to set up your jumpers to configure the frequency, multipler and voltage by the jumpers and dip switches.
You will have to change 2 group of jumpers and 2 dip switches box.
See your user's guide. Be careful with the voltage.
