assuming the benchmarks are true, and the p4 actualy hit 3ghz, then that particular p4 would be the fasted proc. when will it be available? seems to leave amdxp2000 in the dust!
and dam i was certain that o'ced amds were the best

~36% speed increase

1.600ghz -> 2ghz(XP 2500+ ?)
25% speed increase


but didn't the XP1900+ (1.6ghz) beat P4 2ghz?

so it would make P4 @ 3ghz the fastest cpu at this moment.. just wait & see ;)

thats exactly what i meant, amds were the fastest untill now.. assuming that this review is accurate

true... but if that reviews correct thats an engineering sample with all the multipliers availible... the reason amds clock better than intels is because the multipliers are availible on production intels you have no multiplier adjustment so your limited by your FSB adjustment... i'm laying bets that when that chip is released the multiplier will be locked off and there will be a new athy that beats it

tripodal, the facts are that intel is depending on raw speed to produce a fast processor due to the architecture of the P4 itself.
Simply put,the chip produces errors during clock cycles and thus loses time.So speed is most importand.

AMD however has a better chip but cant speed it up that much :(

Intel could not stand the fact that they had the fastest cpu in Mhz speed ,but not in perfiormance.So they're speeding up to produce even faster P4s to be able to say they have the fastest.Commercial reasons.
