I have a Classic 800 that I reset the multiplier & cache divider per LOL Boy's instructions to run at 950 1/3.Everything seems to work fine except my BIOS POST and AMD CPUID/CPUInfo says I now have a 750.STATS:Asus K7M BIOS v1.09,Athlon 800(core800),256 RAM,WD 20G HD.Any advice,please treat as beginner(kid gloves).

well heres the deal, no matter what you did to the cpu, if cpu id and bios say its running at 750... it probably is... i would imagine you botched a small step.. did you use a gf, or solder? double check your mod. and besure you made all settings correctly.
are you sure you mobo will run at 950?

Solder mod.,see LOL Boy,checked all mods.(right place).Votage mod. worked went from 1.70 to 1.80(verified).I think my K7M is an older model couldn't find the ver.(looked between PCI slots)just says Asus upper right corner(has ATX connector to the right of processor,in the#*way)&1 ISA slot.It does have the newest BIOS so I am ass/u/meing it does.

i'd say test your solders with a multimeter, they maybe slightly off

Brave man for getting stuck in with the soldering iron.
Make sure you haven't burn out any of the resistors or any of the tracks leading away from the resistors on the PCB.
Have you tried setting it to another multiplier like 900?

Checked my resistors and paths with ohm meter none burned out.Haven't tried another multiplier yet. What's the wattage on those resistors,I know there SMD 1000 ohm?

Check yourself against Tom's Hardware Guide. http://www4.tomshardware.com/cpu/99q3/990826/athlon_overclock-02.html

Thanks for the link.Just realized I used a SMD 1000 for my voltage mod.My BIOS says it is running at 1.80v though.Processor was set to run at 1.70v can't verify though.Hey,sorry I got your screen name wrong.

Hey guys, got my 800 at 850 I guess my motherboard doesn't support 950,I thought I saw somewhere K7M's would support 1Ghz.Would like to up my voltage a little but I need some of those resistors.Any body know the wattage?I checked Tom's guide but could'nt find the wattage, just says SMD-100.Anyways thanks-alot.

The K7M mobo should be ok cos I have seen an overclocked 800 running at a gig on one.
The resistors are available from RS components. They are slightly bigger but do the job. When I get home I'll try and find the product code for them.
Have you tried using the Asus probe monitor software? I found this to be the most accurate on voltages etc but not processor speed.
What may also help is to up the I/O voltage of the mobo to its highest which I think was either 3.5 or 3.4v. This is done with a jumper near the power connector.

Someone mentioned that K7M's won't run a T-bird CPU's over 800 mhz. I'm talking stock here, or overclocked. Of course, he's selling a 1000 mhz Classic and asking $179.00 USD (Phew!)
So have K7M owners pumped 900 pkus T-birds on their MB's?

I heard somewhere they made both a 18 micron and a 25 micron Classic.I couldn't get my K7M to run windows 98SE stabally or my 950 T-Bird or run my 30GB Maxtor HD without being in DOS protected Mode.Asus has a beta Bios in their members area and after flashing it recognized my HD.Haven't tried my T-Bird in it though. But I here alot of people do run them.

I've run an 800 clocked to 1000 on a K7M so they do work.
