I like XP now.

I swore a few months ago that I'd only give up Win98SE when you could pry the 98SE installation disk from my cold, dead hand. But, beleive it or not, XP has changed my mind. It is very stable and game friendly. More so than Win2K (game friendly that is). ALthough wtih XP I do lose a few FPS to Win98SE. the difference is quite small and there is no seat of the pants loss of performance.

you cant beat fighitng for xms memmory, the HMA, and uppermemory blocks, loading device drivers, cant beat the fact that it takes about 10 seconds to boot up. not to mention device high, config.sys and autoexec.bat!!!!
id be willing to wager yall forgot about that!

at least dos never crashed....
I never saw the BSOD... infact Can dos even crash?

98se may still have a slight edge speed wise over XP, but it is very slight. Give me XP, not only for its gaming stability, but for all its other qualities too. :)

Ill have to recommend winxp/2000 over the 98se. Why? Well, performance may not be exactly as good...what i do enjoy is when games crash(which is rare of course, but it does happen) i dont have to totally reboot. With xp/2000 you can just shut down that certain program, and not expect any further problems.

Well i'd still have to say 98se for total compatability. But XP is quickly taking the crown for any new stuff, and its pretty :p

Nothing beats good 'ol Windows 2000 :)

it's abit slower then 98
but faster then XP & alot more stable then both ;)

had some nasty XPeriences @ my latest LAN party
had 2 PC's with me.. Win2000 on mine & WinXP on my 2nd rig (which I lent to a friend so he could game along) he experienced crashed every ~2 hours... blue screen of death

Abit KT7A-R / Tb1.2@1.4 / Gf2Pro
everything installed @ default with official DetonatorXP drivers @that time

also some games really looked ****ed up.. Need for Speed porsche was all fuzzy looking.. gray fog made it impossible to play :(

I really love XP, its by far the best OS out there right now for ANYTHING. 98/ME (ME is the same if you strip it down right) is still the speed champion, but you have to love XP for stability.

Win 2000 is a hideous games platform, and I wouldnt recommend it at all. If you have an older system tho, I would still say Win98SE (Or WindowsME, if you strip it down, like I said). XP is too bulky for slower machines (sub 700mhz), especially if you only have 128m of ram or less. My little 300mhz laptop is getting the 98SE treatment tonight :)
