Bought an XP 1600 and want to know which heatsink to buy. I read all of the rave review on the Swiftech MC370's and bought one for my 1.4 T-Bird, but was unimpressed with it's performance for the price.

ThermoEngine?
Vantec?
Alpha?

What do you have and do you like it?

i have a pal 8045 with delta fan.

keeps my 1900+ running @1800 Mhz cool as arctic hell. stressed (benching hours 3dmark, prime continuously) @36° Celsius max.

uhm.. you forget to mention the 4 case coolers you got there Calantak :D (that delta 80mm fan really makes ALOT of noise ;) )

I have a ThermalRight SK6 and 1 80mm case cooler in the back

stressed temps are ~44°C for a XP1700+@1600Mhz

I'm looking at the ThermalRight SK6. You guys hear noise coming from your cases. Introducing, Antec server cases!:D

hi,

well i had the sk-6 and must say for all the rave reviews
it got i was very unimpressed my old pal alpha with a delta fan is much better at cooling. the sk-6 needless to say is just sitting in a box collecting dust as it would not do below 45 at idle.
i'm currently going to a water system

I don't have one, nor have I used one yet... but that alpha pal 8045 is a pretty nice cooler. I'd grab one of those with a nice quiet fan and corona. ;)

Both of my SK6's run delta 6000 rpm fans, while they are not the quietest around they make for a blinding cooler, excellent and never above 45 degs even under full load.

I don't own a name brand one but you might want to check this site out. http://www.overclockercafe.com/index.html

A couple days ago I got a TT Volcano 7 which has an 80mm fan and is variable speed as a function of the temp. I have a XP 1700+ running at 1605 (1900+) at the default 1.75V on a Chaintech 7VJDA (KT266A). I haven't pushed it yet. The best thing about the HSF is that it runs at 2600 RPMs in a resting state (using WPCredit). Right now with Prime running I am at 42C and the fan is running 3835 RPM. I used to have a Delta fan on my other computer, but took it off because of the noise.

mc370's are so-so. it is the mc462 & mcx462's that are the best of em all.

I must agree. The SK6 is still my cooler of choice given the price one can get one for now. Never above mid 40's overclocked with a voltage modded 2.1 core, and never above mid 30s at stock voltage.

There are better coolers out there, but I do not think the extra $ is wrth it. I have zero heat issues as it is. Next step would be H2O anyway.
