Download? Upload? do they effect each other?

If your in the middle of a download, and someone starts to download from you, do you loose speed on your other downloads? does it make a diff with xp or dsl? i have both, what is the effects or defects?

Hello jetrunner, Yes you are going to notice a slow down in your speed. I am not 100% susre but I think it will happen no matter what kind of connection or software you are using. You send and receive data on the same uplink. Some sonnections have different speed, I belive dsl has a set uploaf and download speed, my cable has a faster download than upload. when you are downloading you computer is only working on getting the download and all your bandwith is open for it, when someone starts to download fron you, you have to share the bandwith.
