Hey bro...
Let me take a look at what i got and what has just came out...i know i have something i can recommend. The end of RTCW was very disapointing. Was it just me, or did they just 'rehash' the same graphic of the 'president' sitting behind his desk talking to that other guy? hehe. The last enemy was also disapointing...extremely.........

Well, sadly enough there have been no good releases since RTCW. This surprises me considering that the holiday season is here, and you would think that it would be a good time for big-name releases and good games. Guess they were released in november/october.
Commache 4? Hmm...I played this game for a good bit, was definitely a surprise. At first, i was figuring it would be a 'Microsoft flight simluator' but using a helicopter instead of a plane. I was rudely, and honestly happily, mistaken. The commands are far from a flight simulator, more along the lines of a helicopter-shooter game. Don't get me wrong, you do have control over a few different options concerning the 'simulation' of the copter you are flying...but it is a far cry from a simulation.
The graphics in the game weren't that bad to be honest. Defintely is par with some of the recent games released(not as sharp as say RTCW, but definitely not far behind). This game is defiintely more of a Arcade game then a simluation. The chopper can do just about anything, make sharp turns, flips, etc. Which is wonderful!!
THe games missions are pretty satisfactory also. Just an example is defending a base against an invading force. Pretty clever and fun, and a lot better than previous installments where the missions were basically: 'take the choper to the waypoints'.
Personally i used the keyboard and mouse. I am guessing that with a joystick it would ahve been more enjoyable...but since i dont have one, i really cant vouch for that. This game was definitely enjoyable and i would recommend this game to you nitan. I am not even going to use the cliche' i always use(nothing groundbreaking/new) because, well, i think its going to be awhile before we ever see something that can satisfy it.

OOps, one more thing: the EST date of release for UNREAL 2 is march 1st of 2002. Realistically, i would expect it by June/July of 2002.

The next game we should be looking forward to is Medal of Honor: Allied Assault!!! This game is going to be very awsome! I think that, in terms of First person shooters, there are 3 main games being released in the first half of the new year:
1. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
2. Unreal 2
3. Duke Nukem Forever

Should be a good year. I consider it a year where the First person shooter games are taken to a new level of realism and gameplay, starting with medal of honor(release date: 1/22/01).

Damn.....i didnt mean to make it seem like the ending was that bad. It is a lot better than the 'text' ending for Doom!! hehe. I was disapointed with the final boss mainly due to the fact he was very simple to kill.......I hope what i said doesn't detour anyone from playing the game until the end. The ending does have a nice little twist to it that will make you chuckle!
keep chugging away! happy gaming.

agreed bap...the ending was a lil disappointing but the very end is funny :D ....as u say the last boss was very simple fo defeat...i was expecting there to b a "knack" to beating him but it was too simple. hey bap u have a PS2 dont u?....there is a game that has been released here called Devil May Cry or somin like that...have u heard of it or played it?....my level of boredom is so high that i am quite tempted to get a PS2 but this title and GTA3 are the only games that are luring me to do so, also it is going to cost me over £250 to get one, money which i dont really have to spend at the mo. Oh man....a lottery win wud be soooo nice:rolleyes: , looks like i may have to wait till Medal Of Honour and Unreal II come out before i can appease myself.....hehe

My friend played 'devil may cry'...let me ask him what he thought!(i have this strange suspision that he rented it, and beat it before he had to return it.....). Are you into Role-playing games? If so, i would definitely recomment Final Fanasty X for ps2!!!

hi there bap, i just got 2 new games, both of which are very cool :D , first off is Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon. this is gr8 game, i like it but it runs ever so slowly, even 800x600 it runs fairly slow:( ...i dont think its the gfx that a causing the slow down, i genuinely think that this game is CPU intensive!...the AI is pretty good and sheer scale of the levels and such like it gr, also the physics are fantastic too....well worth getting, i dint like Operation Flashpoint but for some reason i quite like this games, perhaps coz it is very intuitive....

the second game is Soul Reaver 2. this game rox!!!!!....1024 32bit trilinear and aniso all on, runs smoother than a baby's butt :D , looks real pretty too, i recommend this to anyone....

I recommend that anyone check these games out....they are both fantastic..but then this is all matter of opinion :p

Hey! Just a quick follow up on 'devil may cry' before i forget. Talked to a friend of mine who rented it(he was considering buying it). He told me definitely DO NOT purchase this game. He told me he beat it in roughly 4-5 hours.....basically one sitting!
Dont get me wrong, he said it was a FABULOUS game and definitely worthy of a rental. But it is definitely not a game to be purchased, based on the shortness of the game.....that is almost 10 dollars per hour of enjoyment! Definitely waaaay too much in my book!
Darn, sad to hear you cant juice up the Ghost recon graphics. Wonder why....your cpu isnt all that bad, closely resembles mine in specs. I could run 1600x1200 without a problem.
Soul Reaver 2....have not played that one yet...definitely going to have to give it a try! I rmeember playing the very first one for the psx. It was heavily based on being a vampire and living through two different generations. Then the game seemed to totally change in part 2(i think the first one was called "lord of kain" or something....then they changed the series to "soul reaver").

Before i forget, ever play the game 'The Dig' for the pc? It was released probably around 6-7-8 years ago by lucasarts. Fantastic adventure game....but it would be impossible to find, and personally i dont think i would recommend it in todays age. We have been saturated with amazing graphics and this game would definitely make us chuckle at the site of the graphics.....
It had a good plot though....was more curious if you ever played it and what your thoughts were!

Nitan....funny you mention that. In fact, the game is a Steven Spelisburg(spelling eek) produced game. The plot was written by him and it was suppose to be made into a movie. But due to the fact it would cost a fortune, he instead gave the story to his buddy George Lucas so he could make it into a game.
The game starts off with 4 astronauts going to the moon. When they get there, something happens and aliens(of some sort) appear. The plot goes from there. It was a very well plotted game......

are you talking about "The Dig" ?

cause the main story of that one is... "a metior is gonna crash into earth" where have I heard that before? :)

I agree with all of you, the ending for RTCW was weak...especially after that gorgeous intro. The end guy was easy...those super soldiers were alot tougher. The end guy should have had a projectile weapon or something :) Great game otherwise tho, apart from it not always loading the next level correctly and freezing, which i hope they fix soon.

Jmke!
That was the plot! Please forgive me for my inaccuracies. I knew it involved some sort of outer-terestrial object. Obviously, since the game is around 6-7 years old, it came out well before the movies you are referring too. So, do not for one second, consider 'The Dig' a rip-off off the meteor movies. Also keep in mind, 'the dig' involved alien activities and alien worlds. The reason for the meteor had alien motives and intentions, and was not just a coincidence of a meteor on course to our planet.
Thanks for reminding me what the game was about.....i cant believe i forgot!

My recomendation .... once you've finished the latest greatest game, and its 3 contenders ,.... then go back and have another crack at Halflife (and its add-ons too), with the difficulty on "harder-than-hell" :D

Half-life is still one of the best single-player games ever. Period!
:D
