I'm being a cheapskate and using the on board C-media 8378 audio on the a7v266-e. it's suprisingly OK for an on board sound and having spent £150 on the Asus board i don't really want to lay out another £50 for a soundcard. But I just can't get it to work properly with a 4 speaker ( Videologic Sirocco Crossfire ) setup. :(
With the bundled ASUS driver - v521 - i get 4 speaker output but if you are watching a game intro or cutscene like in RTCW or Q3 the sound goes all choppy and then just fades and dies after about 10 seconds. normal game audio is fine as is MP3/CD audio.
Any other c-media driver I try , and i've just tried the v629 from their website , solves the choppy audio problem but will not enable 4 speaker output ! aaaaargh !
anyone got the a7v266-e and got decent 4 speaker sound ???
