Hi Crono.
I'm not sure if windows media player 8, that came with Win xp play DVD, but anyway
Look what i found:
DVD FUNCTIONALITY WITH THE WINDOWS MEDIAPLAYER!
Great tip from Lockergnome. - Lockergnomie Jim Bailey discovered a way to turnon the DVD functionality of the Windows Media Player!
Open Regedit, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER >Software > Microsoft > MediaPlayer > Player > Settings. Right-clickon the Settings key and choose New > String Value. Name that string "EnableDVDUI"(without the quotes). For the value, use "yes" (again, without thequotes).
Next time you start Windows Media Player, youshould have DVD viewing abilities. Keep in mind, this won't read DVD-ROMs unlessyou have a DVD drive installed.
I did this on Win XP using Windows Media Player and it works great. And it's free :D

Yea I saw that option in xp tweak guide and tried over 3 weeks ago but this is the error I get"Error ID = 0xC00D116A, Remedy ID = 0x00000000" InterActual Player is another program that comes packaged with some DvD's and it runs the title screens and options but when you press "play movie" the error reads "Playback failed due to a problem with the video subsystem. Lowering your screen resolution or color depth may fix the problem" I was running 1152x864 so I changed it to 1024x768 but I get the same error havent tried 800x600 but if I wanted that low performance I could watch it on a external DvD and TV. So Im back to square one waiting on ATI to update their DVD player. Thanks anyway
