Hi pisemude.

Welcome to the board :xwavey: Well, although you're using it for about ten months, check the cable and connections, then take a PowerMax on services>product support>Software & Utilities. The POWERMAX.EXE utility is designed to perform diagnostic read/write verifications on Maxtor/Quantum hard drives. These problems include, but are not limited to the following:

· Potential hard drive surface problems (e.g., bad clusters, bad sectors, partitioning/formatting problems, etc.).

· Drive recognition problems (e.g. hard drive that is not recognized by the operating system).

· Software removal.

Read with attention "Step by step procedure to perform diagnostics on Maxtor hard drives utilizing POWERMAX.EXE"

Let us know how it perform.
