Hi Guys....got me a kg7 (ready for an XP) and I have to say I like it...
One gliche holding up the persuit of speed...if I try to push fsb over 148 windows boots at low res, 4 colours...I presume the graphics card doesn't like the speed (just a jetway gf2mx400) although its been ok at 150 in the old KT7a board....
Any ideas wht i could try to get it going a bit faster (at least to find out the memory's limits)
At the mo I have 5w bios, and all settings as recomended here http://www.icronticforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=14563
Tried dropping to 2X agp, tried the higher io voltage, tried disabling agp fast write....but still the same......1 megahurt more, and I lose the vidcard:(

Hullo,
only thing i could sugest is either cooling the video card better, and also chck that the northbridge and southbridge are cool enough

lol....if Iput anymore coolng gear on the vid card it will tear the slot out and drop to the floor.....
Havn't put the waterblock on the northbridge yet.....maybe should give it a go!

go for it, if the northbridge is getting too hot then that could be the cause

As you suspect, i believe it is most likely a video card problem. If you are using those settings Oppainter and DDTUNG developed over on the Icronic forums, you are set BIOS wise for the best possible overclock.
As always, relaxing the AGPX4 and fastwrites options provide a little boost, but it does not sound like these settings are your your problem. If you could get 150mhz on your old mobo, I would think that you are reaching approximately the same limit.
You may want to try raising the I/O voltage and see what happens.
Other than that, you may need a vid card more FFSB friendly to go higher. The KG7 certainly can do it. I regularly get to 165 without an issue, and can get to 172 using only one stick of RAM.
Keep us posted.

Hmm...I suspected as much........still....on the bright side CPU temps are lower than before , and I seem to be stable at 1470 with just 1.85 volts (not done volt mod yet)....on the kt7a I needed 2 volts to do that (its only a 1g chip). The limit on the old bourd by the way were purley memory/mobo limits.....the vid card had no probs ever.
I don't thimk the northbridge temps are the prob....its unlikely to stop so suddenly at that specific fsb......I managed to lower temps a good 10 degrees with an open window ad a fan, and it made NO difference.I am a firm believer in northbridge cooling....and usually have waterblock fitted but in this case its not the hold up (yet:D)
I bought this board new crono.....could have waited for the local store to get the kr, but i didn't for 2 reasons......first If I don't spend too much now (and the kr would have been much more pricy) then I can keep the old kt7a (and later this fine specimen of a 1g chip) intact as a second machine.second.......i really want a stable board......the kg is one of the most stable boards abit has put together for amd cpu's.....and I didn't want to miss out on it!!
well......after I get an XP I will get a new Hard disk and better quality (maybe abit) gf2 for this system and then have fun with the fsb!!!

Do you have anymore vc's you can try to confirm this problem? Quickfix raise your multiplier to 10.5 and fsb will be low enough to correct your res problem.

nope......no more v/c's.
Anothr bright note is that the sblive has no probs:)

You should make sure your using the AGP timing specs as listed by DDTung... check out Icronticforums.com for the numbers...these should help you.
Frankily, souinds like the video card tho...surprising it doesnt like even 150.

Yep....seems so:(well....next month.Shame I was looking forward to some fsb overclocking!
Looks like I'm maxed out on the cpu front too with only 1.85 volts, 1480 is about it.I would think another 80 or so with the voltmod done, prolly marginally better than the kt7a would manage on this chip!(previous best 1552)
Oh well.........Better get earnin some more cash:D(more cheesy music called for):xviolin:
