I don't know what happened. I came home today, booted up my machineand started to listen to some music. Well I opened up my secondary h.d. to pick out some mp3's to listen to and my h.d. was empty except for a folder labled recycled. At first I thought I had opened up the wrong drive since I installed a 100 gig drive this weekend. But no, all data is gone. I updated norton and ran a scan, nothing found, no virus.:( :( :( I am soooooooo sad. I don't know what the hell happend. It's just gone my brothers, 28 gigs vanished.
Does any one have anthing to offer? a ray of hope? please ????

I feel your pain. I have a 13gig HD that I had everything on. I used that drive for 2+ years. I built my new machine and bought a 20gig. I transfered everything from the 13 to the 20. Then I formatted the 13 to use as spare space. Days later, my new 20gig had a severe head crash. :( Everything was gone. I sent it to three different places to see if the info could be recovered. Nope. :( Well...Maxtor replaced my dud 20gig with a 60gig. :D There's always a silver lining. Sometimes you just have to wait for it.

Hey crono, I am on INH medication so I cant drink while I am taking it. See thread <a href="http://ninjamicros.com/vbulletin/showthread.php3?s=&threadid=4507">Here<a/>
Does anyone know what I might have done to the drive? All I did was move it from one bay to another.
The weird thing is that it's still formated, just all the info is gone?????
Is this what happens if static build up gets to it? or does the fat32 partition go to? I need to run the maxtor utility on it to see if I can still use it. Even so I think I might just "drop" it and make use of the great maxtor return policy :D

Hi M8
Have you tried something like Spinrite for data recovery, I was reading about it a couple of days ago and it claims it can recover data from a bad drive. More infromation is avaliable at www.grc.com .
