Hello there!

Firstly I'm glad to be part of NinjaMicros forums on Slot A overclocking. I hope, as a newbie, that I can find a lot of help here. :)

I have managed to find the year and week (2000, 21) that my 700Mhz Athlon was produced but I cannot find anywhere online that tells me the core speed. Does anyone know?

I also wanted a GFD as I've had my system approx 1 year and I'm only just getting into O/Cing. From my reading I see there are many available....the Freespeed Pro, Innovatek, and Northwind Ver.3 seeming to be the best. I know Ninja makes the Freespeed but I can't seem to get hold of one of those. Can anyone recommend the other two?

I'm presently only overclocking my cpu by upping the external cpu frequency to 107Mhz (using K7V and Award Bios 1006) and therefore got the speed up to 753Mhz - ha ha

That's it for now! I've more Qs but I'll save them for a later date!

Cheers

Welcome to the board ISIS :xwavey:

I would hold out for a Freespeed Pro by keeping your eyes on the For sale section. They turn up fairly regularly.

You cant really be sure what core you have in an Athy until you pull it apart and have a look. Follow the link at the bottom of my signature to find out how to pull it apart and see.

hi guys

thanks for sharing your knowledge and handy links - some very interesting reading there.

As you have stated I'll never know the true speed of my core until I open it up so....

[bang bang, whack whack......;-)

I just got into the o/cing arena myself, glad to share the field of battle. (or should I say bottle? this business is pushing me to drink)

I bought Innovatek's TD2 for $35 (http://www.highspeedpc.com/item19.htm). I would tell you to look elsewhere, I'm having trouble pushing my K7-500 system beyond 600 MHz. My temp never goes beyond 83degF, thx to a very decent HeatSink-Fan. I have the Global Win VOS32 (http://www.coolerxtreme.com/globvosforsl.html) HSF (which came with its own thermal compound, wish some1 had told me that) plus other fans, & a 350 Watt PowerSupply Unit (the TD2 recommended a better PSU).

Hope you got better luck than I do. Check out this article on Sharky Extreme:
