I was bored, so thought I would summarize a number of other threads on the various categories..

As I sees it, there is a pretty strong consensus for the following:

a. remove predictor@home
b. remove riesel sieve (all three)

as none have work. They can be re-added if they ever come alive again.

c. add nqueens@home
d. add docking@home

as they are well run and have work. Optionally

e. add superlink
f. add sha-1

as they do have work. They have issues as well, but they do have work.

I've been especially disheartened about RS. Though it does seem that there is a llrnet server up and running, there are no stats, so there's really not anything to carry here.

Forgive me for asking but why do you ask the project-admins (?) if they object if their project is added to the vault? The vault doesn't interact with the project it only takes the statistics and via a difficult formula ( :p )the DC-vault teams get an DC-vault score for that project.

What's to object to that?

Anyway, I'm glad to see that you have cleaned up the vault, thanks.

Sorry Russky - What is the problem ?
Did Ninja ask every Vault project in the begining of the Vault about inclusion ? Or just did it ?
One recognises the extra strain incured on both the project and DC Vault by inclusion , but pretty soon the project will be excluded if it does not meet up to the Vault Rules .

Free DC stats don't care - they list just about everything going - no rules you see .

Shads

Answers to a few questions..

We ask the project admin if it is ok because it is their project and their stats file.. If I wanted to use something of someone elses I would have to ask before I use it

As for the Free-DC remark... well if Free-DC do not care, thats up to them... We have decided to ask, and we will continue to ask... and yes we sent a email to every project BEFORE we included them in the Vault..

I have no problem listing a project without asking BUT we talked about it between ourselves and decided too

In my opinion, anyone running a project would know that a lot of users are in it mostly (or at least partly) for the stats. So making stats files available is a small return to the users participating.

On the other hand, it does seem very polite to ask, and I can't imagine any project declining (after all, inclusion in the vault WILL generate more users), so why not. I just wish admins would react a little faster to the requests.

EDIT: Docking admin replied in the thread, no objections of course.

Thanks Russty , that answers my questions .
It is of course polite (AND correct) to ask first and get permission for addition to the Vault , and hopefully a fairly quick response from the proposed project admins for yea/nay inclusion .
Thinking further - if the proposed project does NOT respond , would this be indicative of their interest in their own project ? And therefor likely to give problems later for removal if included without permission ?

Shads .

Admins on both projects have responded, though one took a PM to wake them up.

If a project doesn't reply, then I would email them.. I post in their forum so that users like yourselves can post also and keep the thread alive.

So... Since they have both replied a yes..

I will add them tonight
