Virtual Prairie(ViP) (http://vcsc.cs.uh.edu/virtual-prairie/)is a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to do research in understanding clonal strategies in complex ecological systems. Study the fundamental mechanisms involved in the dynamic of a prairie in response to disturbance (recurrent mowing, grazing...). Such model has several applications such as the design of prairies with high agronomical values or the preservation of ecological systems with high biodiversity.

Run by the University of Houston. This project is in the ALPHA stage, and producing and publishing stats. Current wus are short, about 5-10 minutes, so expect a lot to download when you sign up.

Work flow has been steady, servers up and project staff in fairly active contact with users.

The project has been experimenting with the type of homogeneous redundancy they want to run, so users might get a "no work sent (there was work for other platforms)" notice occasionally.
