How long before we get work ??

2 Months now and nothing for myself or KWSN (along with just about ALL Teams ) since it went into the Vault .

I know (his website states) the progenator wanted his project to do useful work (ie , not make-work by recrunching previously submitted results etc ) so as to not waste CPU cycles/power/band-width/time (etc) .
BUT my power/bandwidth/time IS being wasted just connecting to APS for the last 2 months - with no work . Spam anyone?

The (mostly) only real reward that DC participants recieve for their time/electricty/money and effort is in the stats .
If this project cannot generate work for the HUGE Boinc group , then perhaps he should do it himself (with invited participants) , or it should not be a Boinc project , or indeed a Vault project which attracted a quantum leap in this project participation by being included

Just my frustration coming out for a worthwhile project that cannot (will not? ) give conncideration to the userbase that is Boinc with the HUGE benefit that they can give elsewhere .
If no work (2 months remember ) then perhaps he should do it himself .
(Anyone want to look at the Vault inclusion rules here ?)

OK now Ban me .

But it must be said

Ban you for what?
You make valid points.

But the project is relatively new and one or two kinks obviously need to be ironed out.

I think giving the project a little more time wouldn't hurt though and you can always detach til there is new work, saving your bandwidth.

Many projects have outages though I admit not quite as extended as this.

Anyway, I hope this project kicks off properly soon, especially with the winding down of Seasonal Attribution which, by the way, is also questionable vault-wise as new work hasn't been generated for months.

Soon it will be no more, unfortunately.

Thanks guys.. In the case of APS, I would like to see how it goes for the time being, as some new projects do have their moments.. Has anyone posted on the APS forum?

As for seasonal, please keep me up to date, to when it finishes

Hi Rusty..........from what I can gather it (S.A)has finished inasmuch as there is no new work.
According to rough estimates all remaining work will have been returned by May.

Official home page blurb reads:

"21 December, 2007
Please note that no new work will be issued for the Seasonal Attribution project from this site. But, we will be migrating this project to the main site at Climateprediction.net (http://climateprediction.net/) as soon as possible, and some hadam3 models have already become available there. We also plan to move on to the next phase of this project shortly.
We'd like to thank all our participants for their valuable work so far."

Not sure quite what that means but I would imagine that work would thereafter fall under the climateprediction.net banner.

Last feedback from James was http://www.apsathome.org/forum_thread.php?id=151&nowrap=true#1851 where he indicated more status by Christmas. He has not been heard from since.

I think http://boincstats.com/stats/project_graph.php?pr=aps says it all. There was work in june through august-2007, a bit more in october-2007 and nothing since.

There is considerable frustration amongst my team members regarding our low score in a project that has had no work, no ability for us to recover, for 1/4 a year. Particularly since there has been no new work since before the project was added to the vault.
