View Full Version : Project testing suggestion

Greetings :)

I think I've mentioned this before but I still think it would be a good idea.......

For "vault testing" projects to ascertain wether they are ready/worthy for dc vault inclusion I think it would be good to have a "Team Vault Testing"*

Then when the vault request testing/feedback on a project, instead of the volunteers crunching a given project under their own teams banner, the volunteers would fly together under one flag.

Some may think it a poor idea cos it's not sending points etc to their own team but I think it would have pluses too.

For example, it could encourage both camaraderie and competition from rival team members whilst providing a vault service.

Also, it could encourage new dc friendships, contacts etc. :)

Perhaps then there could even be a "Team Vault Testing" forum section.......a centralised area where the vault testers could share their feedback and experiences.

Perhaps "Team Vault Testing" could even add itself to vault stats and we could see how the testers do in the overall vault scheme of things (once the projects have been green-lighted).

It may seem a silly idea to some but I think it would be of benefit to both the vault and DC in general.

Anyone have any views on this?

If you didn't want to add a forum section for the above here I would be happy to host it from my own teams forum.

I would also be happy to assist in other ways that I could.
I really think it could help things along and help ensure that the correct (solid/reliable etc) projects are included at the vault.

Vaio... Mate

I posted about this many moons ago and the general opion was that nobody was happy enough to Crunch under a Vault flag..

I myself am all in favour of myself creating the "Vault" team and holding the Keys to the Team.... But like I say, not many people were keen to jump on board...

If you would like to edit your first post and make it a POLL, with the question like

"Would you be interested in becoming a Vault Tester?
Yes
No..

Please go ahead.. If not I am more then Happy to do it

Don't mind testing projects here - but I'd rather do it under my current team's name ;)

Don't really matter where I crunch... as long as I crunch...

I think it is a good idea. After all, setting up a centralized "Testing" forum here is only 2 clicks away (if ppl are interested enough) plus crunching for a "Vault" team is always only temporary until it has been accepted into the vault (thats how i guess you mean it).

RL doesnt permit me being active enough in the DC area to be part of it, unfortunately but I think the idea has merits :)

Yes, I meant to crunch under a "vault testing" banner just for a given period of project testing.
Folk could just have whatever they wanted on it (one rig?) part time and create a secondary username.
That way, it wouldn't affect their "permanent" team status in any way, other than a very minor hit on their stats for their regular team.

Doesn't matter but I just thought it could be fun and useful.
After all, we ALL benefit from projects that are reliable etc....thought this would help us to make sure only the "good stuff" is included, and help get bugs ironed out more quickly.

Oh well.......spose I could create a "testing" team of one :D

Also thought something such as this would be fun inasmuch as seeing folk from different teams banding together on occasion.

Guess it'll just hafta be "team lonesome pup" then :p

From the feedback so far it appears my thinking is flawed...oh well, wouldn't be the first time :p

Lock/delete this thread at your leisure.:)

Totally democratically i'll just decide on a team name: "DC-Vault Testing"

That discards any discussions and i think the name is what it should be anyway :p

It doesn't matter, I have got a few PM's and Few are kool to crunch, on a temp basis under a Vault name, and few are happy to crunch the test project but under their own banner....

And add the fact only few people have even shown interest in this thread...

Can anyone round up some more testers?
