AFAIK it's open for all (unless they've temporarily closed account creation without me knowing it). A BOINC project. Exports XML's every 6 hours. Can't post logo, as current logo will be replaced as soonas a new one is selected (there's a logo competition going on atm)

While I admit I haven't dug into this project and their goals much - it has semi-nefarious purposes.

I'm not sure if the results of the project are free to the public, or if they're only available to "premium members" at a price.

The goal appears to be running all combinations of information through algorithms such as MD5 and SHA to generate rainbow tables of all the hash results. This can then be quickly used as a lookup for any hash that needs to be reversed back to the original key easily. Are there a great many positive purposes for this type of data?

russkriss: Thanks ;)

umccullough: Well, the project has been discussed a great deal on both boincstats and their own message boards. Their aim is not to help hackers which many has feard, but to aid security people. They've done some work pre-boinc which afaik is commercially available in some form, but anything from the boinc project is free (although some say it is not as downloads are rar archives - but they are looking for another solution to rar, only the tables are huge, so compression requirements for an alternate are thereafter). Source code is even available - all that is needed is to ask for it, and they'll e-mail it to you. My experience is, they are pretty open and qiuck to respond

Thanks for the response :) - I'll look into it more and discuss with a couple of my team mates to get their opinions as well ;)
