Quantum Monte Carlo at Home announces the public release of the first chemistry BOINC project. This project, based at the University of Münster in Germany, studies the structure and reactivity of molecules using Quantum Chemistry, whose vastly complex equations require huge amounts of computing power.

I've noticed the Vault masters are not too keen on projects in early stages... so maybe we could wait until they reach beta stage? :)

Yes, but we already have a Boinc project which is not full release on the Vault... Primegrid is Alpha !
I don't see any differences between Primegrid and QMC on status...
May be you should remove Primegrid

Hmmm. I didn't know PrimeGrid was alpha...
Maybe it should be added..
Thanks for filling me in

Us at TeAm Anandtech would also like for this project to be added and we also feel it fit the requirements.
Thanks

Thats not the matter at the moment I have posted on their forum to see what they would think to the addison.. Ie. Would their servers handle an influx of new members/teams..
It does meet the requirement but now it's a matter of IF the PROJECT can handle..
PS :welcome: to the forum

The projects is widely well know so I can't see a problem in you adding it to your vault, the work keeps coming, some of the work is short, some is long and some still error out.
Apart from that there are not too many problems.
So its a thumbs up from me, as it is advertised most places already
I checked my post on the QMC forum after I posted..

Thanks for the welcome.
So does that mean it will be added?
Some of us really like the project and there are plans to added a good bit of power to it for a bit.

Hey guys, Freewolf asked me to post here. I do QMC for TeAm AnandTech and I haven't had ANY problems with the project so far. Not once have I seen the project down, been unable to download/upload wu or had any wus error out on me. (Oh My rac for this project is 4000+, so I've done a couple of wu.) QMC is listed on all the big stats sites so I recon they can take the extra addition to your stats. A lot of new TA members have joined this past week, so new members are accepted.
Oh and the uFluid projects on your stats is like Primegrid also still in Alpha.
I really hope you decide to add it to your allready great stats. :)

It has been decided to test the project for a week or so, and any project from no on. I will be posting about it in the comeing day, stay tuned..
This comes about, because a few posts ago I asked for people to post about the project and I got nothing, so we decided to test projects but as I said I'll post about it soon

11 of my first 21 WUs finished with a "Client error" .... the other 10 are still running. I haven't had a single successful completion yet. :smash:

Hi folks
I'm another TeAm AnandTech QMC cruncher and I understand you need to hear of our experiences:
I joined QMC at the first of the month and have crunched 16 (or so) WUs for ~3,700 points. So far, I have not seen any result end with a client error. (
(All have completed successfully)
I have not seen any instance of servers not responding or not having work available yet.
My only concern at this point is the wildly varying WU completion times. I have work unit completions ranging from ~6,000 seconds to ~73,000 seconds.
This may confuse BOINC and send it to "earliest deadline mode" which will mess up project shares (For those of us doing more than one project on a given machine.) We have one team mate who has been bitten with this that I know of. (Of course, BOINC will straighten it out over time, but it can be a little frustrating)
I hope this helps you guys
-Sid
PS: I like your stats site

@russkris.. Not sure why my post seems meaningless in this matter
@Freewolf.. Thanks mate!
@JustCuz.. Well pretty weird, me and my almost 20 teammates doesn't have error problems, so that might be with your pc then.
@Sid.. Thanks for your input and all very true!

No one said your post was meaningless, but we need to be 110% sure it's 'working'. 'Client errors' are the problems we are concerned about, thats a user client thing.

Could be....all 12 of them. No problems with any other Boinc projects though.

Is your machines overclocked? What what I understand this project doesn't like overclocking. Just an idea.

I noticed an interesting effect... It heats the cpu a couple more degrees celsius than most projects do, or at least to me... That along with overclocking, or maybe simply bad cpu cooling could be enough to generate errors.

Yeah - they're all overclocked...between 10 and 15%,,,so maybe that's why. I got solid runs on Prime95 before I started using them for crunching. I'd hate to have to turn them down :(

OK, This project will be added, but not right away. We only have one(1) master coder for the Vault.
So please be patient, keep crunching.....
