By an unforunate sequence of mishaps, the D2OL stats are lost, http://www.d2ol.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=000882;p=1#0000 00.

I think you should consider freezing your calculation on points in this project untill it has been sorted out what is happening.

Thats a real shame....damn....how can you not keep safe backups :(

I'll look into reverting to last good stats with Nano.

So... any news about D2OL's stats?

If they really can't rebuild them, then I guess the next best thing is to use the new stats...

The current Vault D2OL stats are from the last good backup and the collection is currently turned off. Once D2OL sort out their stats we will turn the collection back on :)

Well, several weeks have passed... are you still keeping the stats in the freezer?

Nanobot

Well until the stats are corrected there are only two choices, leave them as they are or remove the project from the Vault.

I've lost hope that they are able to return to pre-crash stats values. If they were, I'm sure that by now they would have done it already.
But instead they started a new stats run starting from zero to everyone, which in case they really can't go back to the previous values, then I guess it's the last and only fair thing they could do.

So why not adopting the new stats values, as most stats sites have already done?

Punish them for utter incompetence? (lets not keep external backups)

Crunchers Inc supports moving to the new stats as we have moved up in the standings by about 800 since the crash...:D

Please try answering those questions :
1) Do you really think old stats will be restored one day on D2OL ?
2) Is that serious DCV keeps showing frozen stats ?
3) As Climate Prediction and SETI went to Boinc, DCV doesn't show anything about "old classical" versions. Why not consider D2OL switched to a new stats versions as them ?

I say No, No and Yes.
And it's not because my team would win much points on it.
I'm member of Team-TNT, and we moved up on rankings, but went down on "virtual" DCV points (because much less team on D2OL new stats).

If I well understood the spirit of DC-Vault, as showing new D2OL stats would make it looking as "little new" project, it would dump his results, and that would make people more active on it. Why not give them this chance ?

I'll apreciate reading other crunchers ideas about this.

1) I don't know. Neither do you :)

2) I see your point but see 1)

3) At least in the case of SETI, the classic version is offline now. I'm not sure about CP.

But I guess you're right...the DCV should reflect whats going on out there. If projects do these kinds of errors and nullify past efforts and noone seems to be really bothered about it, then why should we keep the stats frozen... after all its just numbers.

I say we refresh the stats and calibrate on the new ones until they happen to lose them again as they seem to be unable to keep backups :)

I'm in favor of the new stats too. Sure the D2OL crew made a big mistake, but I'm sure they learned from it. And yea, we all got pissed and vented at forums all over the net and stuff, but hey, what is done is done, we can only pick up and move on.
I don't think I remember this ever having happened to D2OL before, and neither with any other project for that matter... so it had to happen someday to someone, it's faith...

As a fellow member of Toutouf's on Team-TNT I'd like to see everyone press on with the new stats. Like he said, it's not like it's going to help our team. To the contrary, it's going to hurt us...in the short term.:o In the long term, we'll be right up there where we belong...amongst the Top Dozen Teams in DC.

Not bad for several southern boy's:cheers: , a few European crunchers extraordinaire:hamster: :woot: , a couple NY'ers:sheep: , a couple north mid-western gals:girlsrule , a mega-cruncher from Cali,:beep: and a :tomcat: .

:p :stomp:

All whuppin' up on a bunch of teams with 500+ members.

Over this weekend we will reistate the current scores from the project. The fact that the project people who run the project are inept should not affect the Vault as it just uses the results provide by each project :)

... after all its just numbers.
