View Full Version : Why no Rosetta?

Monkeymia got us a team in Rosetta @ home which runs under BOINC, but no one (including Monkeymia) is running it from Team Ninja. Is there a problem with the project? It seems to be a good opportunity to contribute something toward medical research...

i think its just a case of too many projects, too few computers. i agree, its a project for a good cause. i see many teams that used to crunch FAD switching over to this project.

I was thinking about Rosetta, but find myself a bit stretched with WCG, DPAD and DIMES.

Please excuse my ignorance here chaps... but where do you find all the info for the different BOINC projects we (Team Ninja) are participating in

Rosetta was actually top of my list when I considered running BOINC, but I didn't know where to look to find our team info etc

Is it just a case of running BOINC... selecting the project URL, and entering a team to join somewhere :dunno:

Soon to update team-ninja.org with new projects... watch this space...

Personally I've had a lot of issues with BOINC not connecting and sitting idle, or crashing my pc (hopefully with imminent m/brd, brain and memory upgrade this will improve) :)

Rosetta information is here (http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/rah_intro.php)

Join Team Ninja here (http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/team_display.php?teamid=704)

Hope this helps!

Allowing BOINC to access the net once a day at certain times sorted it for me.

I have a friend (Bob) who has limited computing resources but great dedication to medical research... and he has joined our team and powered up to our top position in Rosetta @ home! Let's :welcome: his participation and give him some competition in this vital project!!

Go Team Ninja!! :cheerldr:

Anyone know of a optimised client like the SETi one???

Crunch3r (http://www.guntec.de/Crunch3r/) or Truxoft (http://boinc.truxoft.com/) .

Bakerlab hasn't released the source code, so there won't be any optimized clients out there yet.

Crunch3r (http://www.guntec.de/Crunch3r/) or Truxoft (http://boinc.truxoft.com/) .

Scooby, those are BOINC clients, not Rosetta clients. There is no available source code to compile an optimized Rosetta client from.

P.S. -
Just a side note - have any of you tried the 'Show Graphics' Option on the 'Work' tab? - :D not sure what it all means but very nice!

It would really be nice if Team Ninja would recognize Rosetta as a valid project and create some stats for it... and include it in the daily reports for Medical and Biological projects. IMHO it should be included in our SSS as well. Right now Rosetta appears to be an unrecognized project as far as Team Ninja is concerned! :(

We have a core group of good crunchers who are making nice headway without the overall support of our Team. At least that's how it looks on the surface.

Pretty much the same could be said for DIMES.

I like the project :)
Not that knowledgeable about the science but seems very similar to the old DF and Folding @ home (I'm sure more informed can put their wording in here). The SSS seems a little out of date when it comes to projects and I think we have enough members for it too count (can't find the rules thread). FindADrug has now since finished so this should (in my view also) be the project to replace it.

What do we all think? Nano/Linear?

I was going to ask the same question about DIMES, since we have alot of participation on that project as well.

Ragnarog

I think it currently is a matter of server load (shared with other sites) due to the massive DC Vault stats collection processes.

There are a fair few projects i'd like to see added (dimes, rosetta, einstein, mj-12 comes to mind :) )

Nothing to do with server load, it is more to do with Nano load

Due to a large amount of "real life" commitments I have not had the time to integrate the new projects into our stats collections. Sorry about that. Once things cool down I will be able to allocate more time to it and get things rolling again.
