Does anyone know where I can get an XP rating against actual Ghz. Ive looked on AMDs site and cant for the life of me see one.
Or someone tell me what a 2.6Ghz would be in the XP rating.

Does that make sense ?

It makes sense, but I've no idea where you can find such a scale to make a comparison.

Does this (http://www.broadbandreports.com/faq/2281) help?

comparing the two doesn't help either. i'm sure its safe to safe that an AMD XP 3200 is a better cpu than an Intel 2.2 GHz, even though they are rated the same( GHz-wise.)

THats exactly what i was after, thanks. Couldnt find it on AMD's site anywhere.

Arian... It's kinda Fussy Logic...:D a P4 2.6Ghz is supposedly equal to a XP2600+ (or close to)

So NVM... they arent "rated" the same... thay have the same actual Mhz... but a XP3200+ is way faster than an intel 2.2Ghz in most apps... (not all... it's apples and pears remember)

XP3000+ = 3Ghz P4 supposedly... and so on... but this was before the P4's with 1Mb cache and the equivalens isn't that very exact... so it's basicly just a way for AMD to convince the masses to buy a "lower" Mhz wize CPU that does the same job...

Well i was only wondering as i now do a lot of video transfer for customers. I upped a XP3000 in one of my main rigs i believe this runs at 2.1Ghz. After transfering some film the Demon within got bored so i started a little oclock experiment.
Its now running at 2.6Ghz actual and i was wondering what that would equate to in XP terms.

Im really after finding out what makes a better transcoding machine but didnt know where to pitch the Oclocked 2.6Ghz to compare it with P4's.

I want to try one of these 1 meg 64 bits but will have to wait until they have bought out the new pin ones before i splash my cash.

Hmm... I'm guessing it would be around XP3400+ ish?! or so...

Yep... just like you I'm sitting on my hands trying VERY hard to wait for the next gen AMD's... and the improvements/pricedrops of the current top of the line PeeFours... Tho... I'm never been good at waiting...:D

Dont know if this helps but the college I am currently attending last week upgraded their Video editing puters from P4 2.6 to AMD XP3200 400FSB - reason advised was the 3DNow technology was far superior for their requirements than the P4 SSE in all things relivant

regards
Tom

Glad you told me that, i got the xp3000 on 400 fsb and it seems to be an improvement over my xp2500 ocd to 2.2 ghz. Not sure i notice much difference though for what ive done so far. My next train of thought was to the 1meg P4's. That extreme edition is way too pricey for me for a single cpu.
I think i have a 3ghz piv system coming up in 10 days for someone im going to have an opportunity to try it out.
Takes too damn long to transcode these videos.
I may just make this a machine a permanent transcoder and switch my vid gear into it permanently.

Thanks for your guidance
